I saw 2020 Micah Cooper put on a dribbling exhibition a few years ago via YouTube, wait, in her house which is truly going "old school" so with that being said, even without seeing her having performed live, I already know she has the mindset and doesn't mind putting in the work

This weekend, I'll get a chance to see this young lady along with several other talented players, many that I've never seen before that will get that special GPR treatment at the Girl's Got Game Tournament

When I'm covering an event, I'm actually paying attention to as much as possible and this pictures catches me sitting with my baby doing what I do

GPR Under The Radar stars show out at #HOT

A wise man once said talent is everywhere and over the weekend, several players helped themselves in front of people whose opinions are more important than mine, college coaches. Just because you aren't the "star" on your high school or club team doesn't equate to you not being able to play at the next level.

No one really knew much about about Manvel's Rangie Bessard, she played along side Brianna Turner and Jordan Hosey, before last summer and she jumped from low D1 to BCS after a few plugs here and there from yours truly and eventually signed with Minnesota.

This is what I do, evaluate talent and again I haven't always been right but I've never been wrong and the young ladies below performed so well over the weekend that I wanted to give them a special S/O

2014

Amber Richard ( Adidas Adipure)- Was really good on Friday in the unsigned senior event but took it to yet another level on Saturday and Sunday as showed she could definitely run a team. Now she's added even more offers as she narrows it down on where she'll be playing

2015

Katie Burke (MC Legends)- Burke relishes at the one and on this team, she actually showed this is her natural position. She thinks the game yet she also showed she could score but her ability to set her teammates up for gimmes was on point

Torrie Thompson ( Pearland Thunder)- Thompson is one of those players that will go through a wall for you and I'm not talking about one made of paper. She's explosive on both ends and can score in droves but what I really like is the fact that her perimeter defense can make things happen

Madison Schenck

2016

Madison Schenck (Texas Adidas Crazy Quick) -She's almost six feet, can handle the ball in the open court, under pressure and can shoot the mid to long range well is what I've been saying and she did all that over the weekend. She's getting even stronger which is scary for those defending her in the paint

Maciu Forsythe (Lady Big Dogs) -Forsythe's jump over the past season has been one of the best I've seen since doing this and I'm ready to label her "clutch" as she continues to score under pressure. All she needed was confidence to go along with her skills, she has it and it's showing

Brittany Panetti (Katy Rebels Goss)- She was a legitimate D1 player in the 7th grade, she's 6'3 and is making great strides. I think with her youth and work ethic, she can definitely play mid to BCS, no doubt about that. Over the weekend, she was virtually unstoppable when I saw her

Alexia Torres (San Antonio Islanders)- If you're a guard and I list you as a UTR player, believe your basketball IQ is up there and Torres simply keeps amazing me. In a span of just under two minutes, I watched her drop two long ones, get a couple of steals and assists and to top it off hit a backwards reverse lay-up off balance MATRIX style

Jade Leblanc-Ernest

2017

Bianca Hernandez ( San Antonio Stars)- Her three point shooting impressed me last year, her midrange and attacking the basket earlier this year but her perimeter defense just keeps getting better. Hernandez is young, energetic and has a great work ethic and it's showing

Jade Leblanc-Ernest (Pearland Hawks) -I always said once she understood that she was able to compete, she would expand her game. Now the aggressiveness on both ends is showing, skill set was already there but she's on track for big things.

Marissa Banfield (GTE Elite) -I said she was D1 player when she was 10, some don't agree with me calling it that early, I'll listen when the calls aren't answered and Banfield's phone will be ringing off the hook. You can't teach some things, you just can't and this young lady is worth double digit points without scoring, yet she can simply take over a game if needed

Amber Richard on fire as Under The Radar Tip Sheet coming from #HOT

'14 Amber Richard created plenty of buzz at both the unsigned senior event and #HOT Showcase and when you talk about a heady and tough point guard that simply get's the job done, you're talking about Amber, who by the way also can score and defend to go along with running a team but I've been saying that for month but sometimes seeing is believing and now people actually believe

Richard was one of the GPR Under The Radar players participating in the Heat Of Texas over the weekend, I'll come back to those players later today or early tomorrow

'18 Ott ready to jump into things

Jordan Ott has yet to score her first high school basket but D1 schools already know who she is and after the She's Ballin Extravaganza last month, so did I. This young lady falls into the "scorer" category which simply means she knows and finds ways to put the ball in the basket. I've said that about several players over the years, most recent Cori Schnell, who I'm hearing just went off at Boo for DFW Elite and based on my first glimpse of Ott, I'm predicting she'll be bringing some magic along the way as well

I didn't see Jordan this weekend, I'll be catching up with her later this club season and throughout her HS career but all I can say is trust me, you'll see what I already know

Dukes rolling with Austin Elite to #IBC May 16-18

Hopefully this analogy works but have you ever met someone that tried barbecue for the first time and said it was the best in America, keep in mind this is their first time trying it.  Austin Elite's Tommy Gregg and Fonzelle Martin have tried barbecue all across the country so when they suggest something to me, I listen  and the heads up on Alexus Dukes was she was quick and creative and saw the floor well, well several colleges saw her on the floor doing her thing at the #HOT and the spin was "where did she come from"

The Harker Heights star will be on hand with Austin Elite at the Insiders Basketball Classic May 16-18, I'll have more coming from the event. 2014 #Japreece HOT Tip Sheet

The Heart Of Texas had around 300 teams which equates to close to 3000 players and basically this tournament was used to evaluate players, some that I hadn't seen and probably won't see again this season and many which I had seen to see how they progressed. I didn't cover the Heart Of Texas, they have an excellent staff that did a great job, I especially like what Mark Williams is doing as far as the streaming of video and play by play.

I'm contracted out to cover events, this is my business,  I have my own unique way of spotting talent, it's as simple as that however I wanted to throw a few names at you that happened to stand out while I was watching

Napeesha Collier

2015

Japreece Dean (Team Express)- This young lady always brought energy on both ends, her toughness was answered when she played on a bruised ankle almost the size of an during a holiday tournament. She can score from the outside and is a blur with one of the quickest first steps in the state

Tahnia McDaniel (Lady AllStar Donnie)-I was impressed when I watched her video but I stayed glued to watching her live as she can score multiple ways under various conditions. Long and athletic, she rebounds well on both ends and can defend

Napheesa Collier (Missouri Phenoms) Just simply blew me away as she was almost unstoppable offensively. 6'1, long and strong, whether it was in the paint from a variety of ways or hitting the 12-15 footer, she was definitely on

Ashlan Miles

2016

Mercedes Brooks (Texas Express Brooks) Super athlete that can play basketball is the best way to put it. She's relentless going to the basket and battles for everything in the paint on both ends and I mean battle. Just for fun, she showed she could drop it mid or long range

Ashlan Miles (Heroes Elite)- Sometimes it's the little things you don't see in the box score that makes players stand out but trust me, Miles is legit. She can score and defend baseline to baseline and her energy level never seems to go down as she's simply everywhere and never takes a play off


Amber Ramirez (SA Finest) -I knew she was a big time player before she entered high school and as usual I was correct. Whatever doubts anyone has about this young lady is answered every time she steps on the court and whether it's making her teammates better or taking when needed, she simply get's it done

2017

Kayla Wells (Arlington Swoosh) I saw this young multiple times last season and was amazed at what she did and the upside she had. Wells has taken her game to another level, she's around the magic number and she making magic happen on the floor, scoring close to 10 points in a little over a minute to pull her team in striking distance gives you an idea, or it should



Tori Williams (Hoop Dreams Black) I got an assist on catching this kid from Mark and I'm glad I did because she is definitely legit. Ball-handling, court vision, off the dribble, scoring from anywhere , sees the floor, check, check, quadruple check

May 16-18 Insiders Basketball Classic will be covered top to bottom

'16 Eryka Sydney certainly helped herself at the HOT as she picked up multiple offers over the weekend but that comes as no surprise as she has solidified her standing as one of the top players in the Texas class.

Sydney, along with '15 Brynae Thompson, who also picked up multiple offers this weekend, will be hand for the Insiders Basketball Classic which I will  be COVERING and writing about an abundance of  talented players because  always remember talent is everywhere

Youngstas from #HOT

Tatum "TV" Veitenheimer

I had a great time evaluating a great number of players at the Heart Of Texas this past weekend. I attended primarily because several of my Under The Radar players were in attendance and I wanted to catch a glimpse on their progression, Tip Sheet coming on them a little later. I also saw some of the top players in the country perform, I'll throw a few names at you on that but I want everyone to realize I get paid to cover events, this was not one of those events

I saw some talented middle school players, a couple I've written about previously including Tatum Veitenheimer pictured above. A coach asked me how to pronounce her last name and I said coach, just remember her initials, TV and BCS, because she's one of the savviest point guards playing up that I've seen since I've been doing this, keep in mind who I am and who I've seen.

Tatum can score and defend plus she's nowhere near the player she will be because of her mindset but she understands her role of making her teammates better. Her teammate Bryn Gelrich blew me away last year after dropping five deep ones in a row and I'm scratching my head trying to figure what high school she attended, both she and Tatum are from the 2018 class. Bryn had a little growth spurt and has added even more to her arsenal, she too has a huge upside and when your mom is a D1 coach, you know she's going to be ready

Reagan Montgomery

I love meeting nice people who understand and respect what I do unlike some of the arrogant experts in the Houston area that don't appreciate that I'm probably the first and or only person to write about their kid but the Banshees from Arkansas happened to be at the same hotel I was staying at and the coach introduced himself. After interacting with him and some of his players,then looking at the schedule, I decided to check them out and I was glad I did.

This is a very talented team and a ref asked what grade a certain players was in and I told him 9th since I thought this was a 2017 club. When he asked was I sure, I double checked and his next trip down I apologized and told him the one he asked about and another were a class younger, both he and I were even more blown away.

 Jerlyn Kinney has NBA range already, she can catch and shoot better than same HS players that have signed and once she gets in a rhythm, watch out. If Chrystyn Williams grows the extra two inches to be 6'0,, she's a BCS lock but to be honest with you, her work ethic shows she thinks she above the magic number. She simply explodes off the ground and to the basket, I mean like a turbo charged engine waiting to be unleashed

I made a special trip to see Reagan Montgomery, a point guard from the 2019 class and several things stood out immediately. First, she handled the ball under pressure, something you definitely need from the most important position on the court and she saw the floor well. I didn't what type of speed she had until,she exploded out of a trap as well as anticipated a couple of passes while being off balance. Nice form and a quick release are always pluses and when she dropped a long one before halftime, I'm seeing a bright future is in store

Heart Of Texas weekend ready to kick off

I think there was some confusion on what I'm doing this weekend.

I will be evaluating talent for my scouting service, I am not covering the HOT top to bottom however I will have a Tip Sheet coming on some of the standouts that catch my eye

Players remember to play hard, no matter if you're up or down big, play smart  and within yourself and always keep this in mind, hopefully this is not over anyone's head but I have never had a college coach call me and ask how many points a player scored or which team won, either you get this or you don't

Last but never least "It's not what you do, it's who you do it against"

Houston Premier tune-up for HOT at #CFInvite

Houston Premier showed me they had plenty of weapons at the Cy Fair Invitational coming from multiple players and this should translate well into what's going to be happening at the Heart Of Texas this weekend. They have size that can do things in the paint on both ends, Alley Welling and Lindsey Tredway. Tredway continues to expand her game and is scoring facing the basket quite well. Haley Sellers finishes strong with contact while  Regan Magee, Kate Benandi and Julia Bannister just show me different things every time I see them

Meghan Musso keeps showing me things as well and she was knocking them down from long range and mixing it up attacking the basket, while Payton Walker was just an offensive machine putting the ball from, well just about everywhere. Sydney Maczko did  a great job of handling the ball while Lauren Harrison not only ran the floor well while finishing but she showed plenty of court vision

Clock is ticking, are you ready?

I love this picture, not just because I'm in it because if no one had ever seen me, they would not who I was  or what I was doing so the bottom line is you never know who may be watching you on the court, well off the court as well because trust me, recruiters observe more than just your ability to play

Perfect example of when my daughter played, several coaches gave feedback on her supporting her teammates by not only pumping  up and supporting her teammates along with getting them water while she was on the bench,, it may seem insignificant to the novice however it gives credibility to what I'm saying.

Also parents, unless you have a "can't miss" daughter, you might want to refrain from negativity regarding your daughters teammates or coaches, I'm just keeping it real but I know grown folks like to be grown so do you and in the long run, see who get's got

Players do these things, play hard, play smart and do what you do BEST on nthe court, this isn't the time to work on reverse lay-ups, behind the back and no look passes or shoot the three if you CAN'T do it

'18 Ghavidel helping keep tradition going for Hoyas

The South Texas Hoyas just keep me on my toes with an array of talented players on multiple teams. Brittany Rodgers just made the Tip Sheet from the Cy Fair Invitational and still has me wondering how in the world she made one shot in particular but moving up this weekend to play in the PSB event held in Georgia are three other young players who are familiar with GPR Tip Sheets as they've been featured multiple times.

Deja Kelly, only a 2020, yet already has me thing a serious MDAA contender. Sophia Ramos, a 2018 who has made one of the most tremendous jumps over the course of two seasons than any player I've seen, let's me know she's been definitely working because I see the progression. Then there is Katlyn Ghavidel, another sharpshooter from San Antonio who almost brought me to tears when she attended the Pass Tha Ball Camp back in December despite her ankle being the size of an orange telling me she didn't want to disappoint me., well that will never happen because even at the camp, she simply brought it

Ghavidel is definitely Under The Radar nationally, colleges in Texas know about her and if they don't don't they most certainly will because this catch and shoot artist launches shots from spots so deep that you might need a radar to know exactly where she is on the court. What truly impressed me is the fact that even though she's one of the top long ball shooters in the state, that wasn't enough and she's taking players off the dribble and scoring with contact not to mention  playing solid perimeter defense

'16 Alexia Torres ready for weekend action

I crossed paths with the San Antonio Islanders so many times last season until I almost had every player memorized. This was and still is a very exciting filled with talented players that will be playing somewhere after their high school careers are over. This is also a throwback type of squad filled with smarts and skills to go along with that talent and when they get going, they can simply put up  numbers very quickly iun fact I've seen them erase double digit deficits in a little over a minute, do the math

2016 Under The Radar Alexia Torres is vital to what this team does, she can score, from just anywhere, she can handle the ball, sees the floor and knows how to not only create for herself but her teammates as she sees the floor very well. Torres also does something that  really love watching players do, well she does a lot of things I love watching them do but her ability to play the passing lane for steals is something I truly enjoy

I'll catch Torres and her teammates this weekend at the Heart Of Texas but in case you want a preview, her ya go

'18 Schenk rolling into Heart Of Texas

Mikayla Schenck has seen talented players galore already and she's yet to play her first high school game, wait, she's yet to enter the 9th grade as this talented young star from the 2018 class has made several appearances with SATCH joining older sister, 2016 Madison Schenck, who has a lot of buzz going among college coaches

Mikayla, like Madison, is hovering around that magic number of six feet and with a longer wingspan and tremendous upside, Mikayla will also be heavily recruited like her older sister. The younger Schenck suits up for MC Legends and I'll run into her this weekend at the HOT and although I have her listed as Under The Radar, trust me you'll know who she is real soon

#PrimeTime I'll be back in the Metroplex May 10-11

What new talent awaits my return as I head back to cover "The Best Game In Town". Surprisingly even I can't answer that question and believe I do no a lot of answers but every Prime Time event  that I've covered, I've always manged to find even players that have the ability to play at the next level

I have what, 5, 6 or 7 more Prime Time events to cover, in Prime Time I might add, and this includes, drum-roll please, PRIME TIME NATIONALS July 23-27. Last season there were over 800 teams, yes 800 and I don't care how old your teams are, I will be there for the duration to try and catch as many young ladies as I possibly can, wait, that's what I always do right?

Who's HOT at H.O.T.

I'm going over Joey's list of teams participating in the Heart of Texas and it is an impressive list as several of the top teams in the state will be on hand including countless players who will be playing somewhere once their high school careers are over. One of the teams that I'll definitely be looking at is the Lady Houston Phenoms who are simply loaded with talent

'16 Stover showing why she's a student of the game

Jordan Stover simply knows how to get the job done and the Under The Radar sophomore is proving it where it counts, both on and off the court. As a freshman at Cedar Hill, she immediately made her presence felt becoming the starting point guard and leading her team in three points made. As a sophomore, Stover helped Triple A make a deep run towards state in Texas 1A and along the way she led the division in assists while also picking up the Newcomer of the Year award


Okay she can run a team,  shoot,  and distribute but as I said "on and off the court" and her 1st Team Academic All District award coupled with a 3.8 GPA sort of solidifies what I've said. Seeing is believing and she'll be making believers at Boo Williams next weekend

Texas 2016 popping

As I sit here updating the list of talented players throughout the state, I'm simply overwhelmed with the talent and I had a brief conversation via email regarding just how many of these players had not only offers on the table, but BCS offers

Parents since the turn of the century I haven't had one college coach call, text or email asking how many points player X scored or if team ABC won, I rarely even remember because all I'm doing is trying to identify players that can play at the next level and at what level, that's it

I know several players that have averaged over 20 ppg that were not as good as those averaging under 10 ppg, always remember it's not what you do, it's who you do it against and several of these players not averaging double-digits have offers from high majors


If your child is receiving letters, that means more than likely someone noticed them, it doesn't mean they have an offer or that they are being recruited and the reason I used "more than likely" is because as little as five years ago, I was receiving letters saying how well I played at XYZ event. My eligibility ran out a few decades ago and contrary to whatever, I'm not even a female


I am all over the state and now thanks to Prime Time Sports, I'm truly everywhere observing talent. I know where the bar has been set so before you take bad advice or think you know, check with someone who knows and has been through it

'17 LeBlanc-Ernest coming along

Jade Leblanc-Ernest is steadily rising above the charts as her game is coming. I loved her skill set and BB-IQ when I first saw her but I saw she lacked aggressiveness and confidence, well that was then and this now and now that she realizes she can compete with "The girls" it's on and you can credit that to the countless hours she's putting into this

Jade will be on hand at the Heart Of Texas with the Pearland Hawks

All even more well as '16 Schnell heads to Boo

I chose the picture with Cori Schnell wearing Eagles warm-up top simply because the Under The Radar sophomore just simply keeps amazing me with things I'm finding out. At Prime Time Nationals, I watch Cori score on an array of moves in which I immediately moved her to the "scorer" category because she simply finds ways to put the ball in the basket

After another successful school year at Prince of Peace, she became the first player from the school to score 1000 points or more as a sophomore, boy or girl and I just learned she was MVP of the district. On top of all that, she's on course to be valedictorian of her class

Schnell is rolling with DFW Elite now, she's showing she can do what I saw her do against all competition plus she's added a little something to her repertoire so she'll be doing her thing at Boo Williams  

Hernandez on fire as Heart of Texas approaches

'17 Bianca Hernandez stays in the gym, either working or observing and let me say this, the transformation I'm seeing right before my eyes told me this before I captured her checking out other games and players. The first thing that I caught about her last season was she could shoot the long ball but since I always talk about progression in players, let me inform you that she's added even more to her game and I'll more than likely catch this San Antonio Star freshman next weekend at the Heart Of Texas

'16 Schenck at HOT with Crazy Quick

Quicker than I can say loaded, this 2016 class has talented players bursting out all over the place and although Madison Schenck is listed on my Under The Radar list, her ability to score from just anywhere is not what has impressed me most about the young lady that stands right around six feet, it's her perimeter defense and ability to handle the ball in the open court pressure.

Sure she can still bang in the paint if needed as well as step out and drop a long one but her work ethic is evident because she has definitely improved across the board from where she was a couple of years ago and this talented sophomore is about to blow up

With over 2500 player at the Heart of Texas next weekend, Schenck is definitely on my list of players I need to catch

'16 Thomas raises eyebrows in debut with DFW Elite

I had to find out who this young lady after watching her a couple of minutes and the more I watched, the more Jasmine Thomas showed me. Athleticism through the roof, this young lady simply does some things you may second guess yourself as to whether you really saw what you think you saw. A Louisiana product, she's one of those young ladies you'll be hearing a lot more about wait, let me show you a taste

Cy Fair Nike AC keeping me on the edge at #CFInvite

Okay Jade and Tia, I didn't get a chance to see you all last weekend but trust me, Compton and Wright are DYNOMITE as well as their teammates, yeah today is black 70s sitcom sayings come all  at you. This is another team of talented players, Alex Coleman and Stephanie Jackson joined Wright at McKinney North, the team that made it to the state championship I spoke of earlier in the Breah Powell story

Okay Juicy was JEFFERSONIZED after she simply went off and led LaVega to the state title, I already said that and if you know what that word means, think about George and Weezie cause several players have been moving on up. Cox, Landrum, Holmes, Chou, Ramirez, Mulkey, Mack are just a few and in no particular order but, there are many more as it's a little bit of everything rolling in this class

Texas United-Dreary at #CFInvite

I can't tell you how much enjoyment I got of watching Jordan Hamilton, Rebecca Lescay and the rest of their TPE teammates last season because they gave me plenty of excitement and entertainment. Joining forces would be a young lady who impressed me in middle school, Gabby Gregory and another who impressed me in what seems like eons ago, maybe she was in Pre-K, Jae "I know the way" Branch but let me say this, a healthy Dee Moore will be huge for this team, more to come

Texas Elite Hampton tuning up at #PrimeTime

Another solid team I'm sure I'll be seeing a lot of is a team I'm expecting a lot from and that's Texas Elite Hampton who has a nice mix of talented players. Bailey Carpenter is tough, in more ways than one. She did a great job at getting to the basket and finishing with contact, sometimes hard contact. Maddison Spears, hey wait, Minta, okay that explains the bombs as she is what I call a zone buster.

Shaquila Anderson also did a good job of attacking from everywhere, in fact several players from the team just were relentless going inside like Addison Garcia and Gabby Nelson as well. Garcia ran the floor well on the break, Nelson used her length to create issues on both ends and Keosha Wilburn was sometimes overpowering. Big Dogs barking louder at #PrimeTime

I knew this was a talented group of young ladies last season, I think I probably only saw myself more on my Metroplex visits but each time, someone new was doing something to blow me away. Maci Forsythe had plenty of potential, I saw her catching and shooting early last season but boy is she catching and shooting now and I mean from everywhere. She's also added a variety of things to her game, like taking defenders off the dribble and when she dropped of floaters, I knew she had not only been working but the work has just begun

Essence Wells and Erin Sanchez put on some shows last season, it apears there will be many reruns from this talented duo but I also impressed with Kyanna Dillingham's knowledge and getting things done plus the energy from Talea Smith and Arione Hodges gives the team a little bit of everything from the backcourt, Wells plays multiple positions at 5'10 including guard

The interior is filled with young ladies who have "workhorse mentality" aka BEAST potential. Destyni Clark simply will not be denied, she's rugged, she's fierce and I've seen this kid hurt just giving everything she possibly has which translates into being a nightmare in the paint, on both ends. Kristal Okeke is equally scary, if you're coming to a battle, you better be ready for a war, both are around 5'10 and like that bunny on TV, they are not going to quit. The baby really blew me away, Mikaela McGuire is the lone 2018 player, on this 2016/17 team, well. Every time I see this young lady she's getting better, she backs down from no one and is productive on both ends

Louisiana still talking about #PrimeTime

 This was a very entertaining group of young ladies from West Monroe Louisiana ranging in grades 7th - 12th and ironically the youngest happens to be the tallest. These young ladies got after it, from baseline to baseline, breaking speed limits posted on the highway back on the court

I  love finding talent because after the four and five star kids are gone, the playing field of next level talents evens out, trust me on that and several of these young ladies can play at the next level
